Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

Wow – I have been seriously delinquent in updating this site. I knew it had been some time, but when I realized I hadn’t posted since JANUARY, my mind was blown. Time really does fly. Particularly when you’re starting a new job, moving out of your apartment, buying a house, fixing said house, raising a rambunctious 3 year old, and binging on 7 seasons of Game of Thrones so that you’re ready for the premiere of the final season.

I knew that I wanted to get back into the swing of things, but since it had been some time, and I’ve had so many other projects keeping me busy, the idea of coming back to this site felt really overwhelming. What would I write about? And when would I even find the time?

If I’ve learned anything in my experience with procrastination (and I have quite a bit of it), it’s that sometimes, you just have to do the damn thing. Take the first step. For me, it was logging into my WordPress account. I told myself I would just look. And then, lo and behold, I got inspired to write again. This post probably won’t be the most interesting or informative, but it’s my first step back into doing the thing I love to do – write.

If you have something you’ve been meaning to do, this is your motivation to take that first step. If you’ve been meaning to get some exercise, go for a 20 minute walk. If you’ve been wanting to get started on your spring cleaning, organize your nightstand. If you’ve been thinking about looking for a new job, update one or two sections of your resume. Whatever you’re resisting doing, know that the first step is the hardest and it’s all (mostly) uphill from there.

‘Till next time!
